How to check if installed app is updated for M1 Mac (Apple Silicon)
Here is how to find out if developer updated your favourite app to run natively on Apple Silicon or is still only emulated on “old” intel x64 code.
You can check if application is natively running on Apple Silicon or is emulated through Rosetta 2 easily.
Press Command + Space bar on your keyboard – Spotlight will open.
Type in Activity Monitor – select it when you see it.
On the main screen you will have Architecture field. Apple means app is running natively and is ready for Apple Silicon, Intel means app is still “old” x64 app running through Rosetta 2 on your M Mac.
As you can see, I have an app that is (Snagit 2021) running via Rosetta 2.
In my case, both Intel and Apple natively coded apps run very well.
